The Rural City of Murray Bridge Sport & Recreation Facilities Grant supports eligible local sport and recreation clubs and associations to improve the quality and suitability of their facilities.

The program aims to support the development of quality sport and recreation facilities across the Rural City of Murray Bridge and assist clubs to develop facilities that meet the needs of their sport and community.

The grant can support a range of facility projects, with the level of Council contribution dependent on the type of facility, proposed works and whether the facility is Council or community owned.

Applications are made by completing the relevant online Application Form, accessed via the SmartyGrants website.

There is no maximum grant amount, however applicants are encouraged to seek additional external funding for larger projects.

The grant operates on a 50:50 matched funding model, with Council and the applicant each contributing 50% of the eligible project cost. Applicants must demonstrate their capacity to provide the required 50% contribution as part of their application. Council's funding approach encourages shared responsibility between Council, user groups and State and Federal governments.

Where external funding has been secured, the guidelines provide for the relevant percentage distribution to apply to the remaining project cost.

The Sport & Recreation Facilities Grant is open all year round while funding remains available.

There is no fixed funding round. Applications can be received throughout the year and are assessed through Council's established grant assessment and approval process.

We strongly encourage clubs to contact Council's Sport & Recreation team before commencing an application.

This provides an opportunity to discuss the project, determine whether it aligns with the grant guidelines and identify any Council approvals or other requirements that may need to be addressed.

Before commencing your application, make sure your club has:

  • Read the Sport & Recreation Facilities Grant Management Guideline
  • Discussed the project with Council's Sport & Recreation team
  • Identified the need and community benefit of the project
  • Obtained relevant quotes and supporting documentation
  • Confirmed the appropriate matched funding contribution
  • Considered opportunities for external funding
  • Acquitted any previous RCMB grants
  • Obtained or commenced any relevant approvals required for the project.

Importantly, projects that have already commenced are not eligible for retrospective funding, so clubs should apply before works begin.
