Murray Bridge is poised for significant growth and Council are seeking to ensure that such growth is well planned for and can be delivered in a timely and effective manner.  Council is excited to be working on a number of strategic projects throughout the Council area that aim to ensure the delivery of Thriving Communities and cohesive, inclusive and sustainable growth.

Council’s Future Cities program includes a number of projects aimed at managing growth, these include:

  • Residential Growth Areas Code Amendment – this seeks to rezone land to allow for more residential land uses.
  • Murray Bridge Structure Plan – looking to provide guidance to Council and the Community in relation to the types and locations of land uses throughout the Council area
  • The Murray Mallee Regional Plan – A State Government led regional planning document which identifies growth opportunities across the Murray Mallee Region
  • Greater Adelaide Regional Plan – A State Government led regional planning document which identified growth opportunities across the Greater Adelaide Region.

Murray Bridge is in the unique position of sitting within two regions the Murray Mallee Region and the Greater Adelaide Region.   The Murray Mallee Regional Plan has been placed on hold whilst communities recover from recent flooding, it is anticipated that work will commence mid-2024.

Work on the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan Discussion Paper has already commenced. Here is where information on the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan can be found.  Council’s submission will be included amongst those available on this website and the following documents were used to inform this submission:
