Entry  Requirements


From 16 May 2023, Lerwin’s Entry Requirements are as follows:

Every visitor to the facility will be required to undergo a RAT before entering the facility -  with a negative result

RAT kits are available at Reception

If your RAT result is positive for COVID-19, please leave Lerwin  immediately and  follow SA Health advice

Please wash your hands and use the supplied hand sanitiser regularly

Anyone who has cold or flu like symptoms – Please DO NOT enter Lerwin


Welcome to Lerwin


The name Lerwin is derived from an Indigenous word meaning 'Come in, sit down and rest'.

We support older people and their families with a range of high quality services that aim to enrich people’s lives regardless of their care, health and support requirements, financial circumstances or lifestyle preferences.

Lerwin is a residential home proudly owned and operated by the Rural City of Murray Bridge and has been serving the local community and surrounding areas for nearly 40 years.

Lerwin is an 1800 square meter (approx.), single storey, Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) that is home to 80 residents, including a 16 bed Memory Support Unit.
At Lerwin, you can expect 24 hour support from team of over 100 trained and dedicated staff offering all levels of care including dementia support.

Residents and their representatives can attend various forums including Resident Meetings and the Food Focus Group to provide input and feedback direct to staff and Hospitality Services about care and service needs. We are an officially accredited RACF (07 December 2021 – 07 December 2024) and are proud to be part of the suite of valuable services that the Rural City of Murray Bridge delivers direct to the community.

We offer the choice of single and double share rooms with ensuites that all have a built in wardrobe, ducted heating and cooling, window coverings, bed, chair, side cupboard, over way table and nurse call bell system.

All rooms include some personal hygiene supplies including shower and hand soap. We also have some personal safety and mobility equipment available.

Rooms are light filled new or freshly renovated with lots of space for your favourite belongings.

Respite is available and welcome to all and is an opportunity for you and your loved one to rest and revitalise.

Respite offers a temporary break from routine caregiving duties, with peace of mind that your loved one is receiving quality care in a homely environment.

You can use respite in helping to decide which care works for you, and if you think Lerwin is the home for you we can help make arrangements to extend your stay.

We have an energetic Lifestyle team who offer various activities, programs and outings 7 days a week to ensure social, recreational and leisure needs are also met. The Lifestyle team have a number of iPads for residents to face time their family or to use for entertainment. A qualified, affordable hairdresser is also at Lerwin one day a week. If any of your needs or interests are not being met – you can always talk to the Clinical Team or the Lifestyle Coordinator to see how we can help.

Our volunteers ensure there are also a lot of one-on-one activities, much reminiscing and fun. Everyone assists in the organising of family barbeques, morning teas and special celebrations.

Lerwin is a caring, relaxing place, and our people are keen to help keep you happy, healthy and active.

We have a team of experienced Clinical Nurses who oversee Registered and Enrolled Nurses and a large pool of Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) who all work directly with Essential Service Providers including:

  • Medical Doctors
  • Physio and Occupational Therapists
  • Podiatrists
  • Dietitians and Nutritionists
  • Dentists and
  • Other health specialists

Lerwin located next to other key health services including the Murray Bridge Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Murray Mallee Community and Country Health, SA Pathology and has a local supermarket across the road.

Palliative care at Lerwin includes the whole family, with support from a psychologist and social worker when needed.

Lerwin has services designed for people living with dementia. Our staff, who have dementia training, are skilled at one-one-one activities.

Our menus are nutritious and varied cooked onsite by qualified chefs. Special dietary requirements can be catered for to meet individual and cultural needs.

We also publish our weekly menu in advance so residents can see what is coming up.

In June 2022, Lerwin changed the Food Service Model. Residents now enjoy a seasonal menu that is designed by residents and the Hospitality Manager and that’s approved by a dietitian. Residents are strongly encouraged to join in with meals in the main dining areas for daily food service from hot Bain Maries. Room service is also available.

Our home is purposely designed with many shared common spaces - inside and outside. Most outside areas are enclosed, secured and feature various types of shade, landscaping and outdoor furniture. The Lerwin Activity Room out to a grassed area at the rear of Lerwin with a BBQ, outside umbrellas, shade structures and outdoor furniture.

The Expansion Project in 2020 converted an existing interior courtyard into a contemporary outdoor space.

Lerwin also has an outdoor Kitchen Garden that residents, staff and volunteers maintain together. The Kitchen Garden produce is often harvested and used in Lifestyle food based activities and shared and enjoyed with residents.
