Connecting Youth to Programs, Events and Community

The Station is a great place for youth aged from 12 to 25 to get involved in positive fun activities while meeting other young people from around the Murray Bridge area.

Youth Action Committee

The Rural City of Murray Bridge aims to recognize and promote young leaders in our local community through our Youth Action Committee.

As a Council YAC member you will have access to opportunities, resources and support to enable you to become a leader in your local community.

YAC will help you develop the skills that will assist you in making a positive difference in your community including:

  • Influencing decisions that affect young people
  • Goal setting
  • Working in teams
  • Problem solving
  • Public speaking
  • Event organization and management

Meetings are held on the first Tuesday 5:30pm-7:00pm each month supported by an elected member of the Council and the council’s Youth Development Officer.

Food and drink are provided.

The YAC is made up of a diverse range of 12-25 year olds that live, work or study in the Rural City of Murray Bridge.

Successful applicants demonstrate:

  • Interest in youth issues
  • Desire to be involved in community events
  • Ability and commitment to attend the monthly meetings

YAC members advocate on behalf of young people in our community on issues which affect them.

Band Connections

If you are learning to play guitar, bass, drums, keys or sing then this is a great program to be involved in.

A professional musician from Music SA will help you to learn and practice the skills needed to play with others in a band.

You get to learn songs and practice each week on stage at The Station.

There are many opportunities to perform at live shows throughout the year.

We understand that you may still be learning and we are here to encourage and support you in your musical journey.

Come and have a look 5:00pm-7:00pm each Wednesday.

For those that have more experience or are at an advanced level we have Band Connections 2.0 7:00pm-8:00pm. This provides a direct pathway into the world of music as a profession.A music program designed for young musicians wanting to meet others, form bands, rehearse songs and build up to performances at The Station and in the community.

This program is run by Music SA with support from a group of dedicated young local musicians.

Live at The Station

Regular events are organized to give young musicians the opportunity to develop their performance skills and build connections in the community.

Events include ‘Battle of the Bands’, ‘Acoustic Sessions’, ‘Live at The Station’, ‘The Murray Bridge Fringe’ and the Murray Bridge Riverfront Christmas Festival.

Rotary Youth Art Prize

Each year local young people have the opportunity to display their art creations in the Murray Bridge Regional Gallery by entering the Rotary Youth Art Prize.

Meeting Rooms and Spaces

The Rural City of Murray Bridge manages The Station as a youth space. It is available to youth focused organisations free of charge for the purpose of delivering positive programs and activities for young people aged 12-25.
