Frequently Asked Questions
The main types of off-leash areas include:
- Designated fenced dog park – this is a fully fenced area which has been set aside specifically for dog owners/guardians to legally exercise their dogs off-leash (24/7).
- Time-share arrangements – this is where dogs can be off-leash at specific times of the day (e.g., 6am – 10 am). This is typically used by other Councils for sporting reserves and beach foreshores.
- Off-leash 24/7 but not a designated fenced dog park– This area could be partially or fully fenced or have no fencing.
In off-leash areas, dog owners/guardians must always have their dog(s) under effective control or supervision.
