THE Rural City of Murray Bridge would like to encourage and recognise the efforts of the special members of our community that decorate their homes with festive Christmas lights each year with the Annual Christmas Lights Competition.
Entries close 9 December 2020. Judging will be conducted from 9 until 16 December and the winners will be announced at an award ceremony to be held 10:30am 17 December 2020 at the Local Government Centre.
Categories include Small, Large, Traditional, Business and Mayor’s Award. $250 in prize money will be awarded to the winner of each category.
Mayor Lewis said the competition is a wonderful way to safely share the joy of Christmas. “This year will be a Christmas like none other we have ever experienced, and a time for us to come together safely with family, friends and as a community to take stock of what we are grateful for and to celebrate,” he said.
“2020 has been challenging year for many in our community and I am excited to see homes lit up with dazzling displays once again. “If you love Christmas and putting up light displays, or have been waiting for an excuse to go all out, this is the perfect opportunity.”
Council continues to recommend social distancing and suggests that residents remain in their cars to view the displays where possible.
Entries will be open to all properties within the Rural City of Murray Bridge Local Government area and only one entry will be accepted per individual or group for each category.
Entries will be judged on:
- Presentation, general appearance layout and design
- Light – use of colour, form and composition, variety and repetition
- Creativity, innovation and passion.
- Does it reflect the spirit of the Christmas season?
