Murray Bridge Swimming Centre Upgrade

A major expansion and refurbishment project at the Rural City of Murray Bridge's Swimming Centre has been approved by Council and supported by funding awarded by the Office for Recreation Sport and Racing (ORSR).

The Swimming Centre Masterplan is a long term vision for the existing site, which includes a 25 metre indoor pool, learn to swim pool, hydrotherapy pool, crèche, meeting rooms and gym.  The current Swimming Centre is an outdoor facility open during the summer months; the upgrade would enable year round use of the pool. Lerwin 18

Lerwin Expansion and Refurbishment Project

A major expansion and refurbishment project at the Rural City of Murray Bridge’s Lerwin Aged Care Facility has been approved by Council, benefiting current and future Lerwin residents.

Council at its meeting of 9 December 2019 voted unanimously to proceed with the expansion and refurbishment project and appointed Schiavello Construction to undertake the work. See more...

Swanport Road

Swanport Road Master Plan

Swanport Road is one of four main entries in to Murray Bridge. Upgrades and enhancements are currently in progress to Adelaide Road.

The Swanport Road Master Plan identified a new landscape character for the entry and overall streetscape. The design will enhance the local character of the area and provide a landscape that is contextual and engaging. Improved pedestrian amenity as well as greater streetscape changes will provide for local residents as well as visitors to the town.

RCMB Murray Bridge War Memorial Artist's Impression

Murray Bridge War Memorial at Sturt Reserve

An elegantly designed and fitting tribute to honour service men and women who have sacrificed to keep Australia safe is being built overlooking the river in Murray Bridge.

The granite memorial designed by the RSL represents a body with two arms outstretched providing welcome and comfort, while the reverse side offers protection and shelter.

The project will also include landscaping and paving in and around the Memorial.

Landscaping and paving work is expected to be complete by the end of June and granite headstones installed before the end of July 2020. See more

Sturt Reserve Stakeholder information Recreation Precinct

STURT Reserve Stage 1 Recreation Precinct

Council has recently secured funding in the order of $3m to facilitate the development of the first stage of the Sturt Reserve Masterplan: the development of the Recreation Precinct that includes:

  • a fit for purpose 3m wide shared use path along the riverfront including furniture, fitments, signage, lighting, CCTV and interpretative themes;
  • complimentary landscaping;
  • a launching and landing structure that provides easy access and egress from the river and accommodated variations in river levels for rowing boats;
  • the provision of bank stabilisation and erosion control measures; and
  • the removal of the existing concrete and sheet pile wharf.

A separate package of works is envisaged, which is still in design and feasibility phase, that is expected to include a Boat Launching Facility.

It is anticipated that these works will commence in August and be completed by December 2020. See more

MB Regional Rowing Centre

Murray Bridge Regional Rowing Centre

Sturt Reserve will boast a $2.5 million purpose built regional rowing centre, the first of its kind in the State, honouring Murray Bridge’s proud rowing history on the River Murray.

The Centre will provide a new home for the Murray Bridge Rowing Club, next to the Murray Bridge Community Club and include five rowing sheds, a race control box, multi-purpose function area including kitchen and gym, and a new public toilet.

Schiavello Construction SA is expected to begin on site in May and be completed in November 2020. See more

TFI - NEW PLANT IMAGE

Thomas Foods International

The Rural City of Murray Bridge Council Assessment Panel granted Planning Approval for the new Thomas Foods International (TFI) meat processing facility.

Council is helping to pave the road to success of the TFI plant rebuild to restore jobs to the local area and boost the economy.

Site works are anticipated to commence in June with works to be completed in December 2020
