Murray Bridge Eastside CWMS Study

Thank you to everyone who attended the Public Meeting on 26 November. Following the meeting if you have additional feedback or questions about the concept design for the CWMS Murray Bridge East, please email to council@murraybridge.sa.gov.au by close of business on Friday, 20 December 2024.

The Rural City of Murray Bridge engaged a consultant in 2021/22 to undertake a feasibility study for the development of a Community Wastewater Management System (CWMS) on Murray Bridge East Side.

East Side residents may recall that during this study; which included approximately 900 properties, a desktop review and site visit of onsite wastewater system occurred. This allowed for information to be gathered to determine the current condition of systems and highlight any potential public health and environmental risks. The study revealed a significant number of onsite wastewater systems in the area were either failing or in poor condition, posing potential public health and environmental risks.

In response to these findings, the Rural City of Murray Bridge explored the possibility of designing and constructing a CWMS to support local residents. A CWMS is designed to collect, treat, re-use, and/or dispose of wastewater through a network of pipes and pumping stations, transporting the effluent from individual properties to a treatment site.

The concept designs and preliminary drawings were provided to the Community to provide feedback. Consultation closed on Friday 27 September 2024.
