Empower Ability – Inclusive Sport & Recreation

Empower Ability is a Rural City of Murray Bridge initiative supported by funding from the Office of Recreation, Sport and Racing through the Sector Success Program. It has been designed to create more opportunities for people with disability to participate in community sport and recreation.

The program brings participants, local sporting clubs, State Sporting Organisations and disability sector partners together to provide welcoming and supported sporting experiences within the Murray Bridge community.

What is Empower Ability?
Empower Ability provides participants with opportunities to experience a variety of sports in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Programs are designed to help participants:

  • Try different sports and activities
  • Learn and develop new skills
  • Build confidence
  • Be physically active
  • Meet new people and build social connections
  • Have fun in a welcoming environment
  • Discover opportunities to continue participating in local sport

Empower Ability is designed for people of all ages, with activities adapted where possible to meet different abilities, experience levels and support requirements.

Building More Inclusive Sporting Clubs
Empower Ability isn't only about delivering sporting sessions. A key aim is to build the confidence and capability of local sporting clubs to provide their own inclusive participation opportunities.

Council works with clubs, State Sporting Organisations and community partners to help create sustainable pathways so participants can continue to be involved in sport beyond individual Empower Ability programs.

Get Involved
Participants, families, support people, sporting clubs and community organisations are all encouraged to get involved.
