The Strategic Planning & Development Policy Committee is established under Section 41 of the Local Government Act 1999 and acts as an advisory group to the Rural City of Murray Bridge on planning policy. The Terms of Reference outline that the Committee has been established to:

  • Assist the Council in the performance of its functions;
  • Inquire into and report to the Council on those matters outlined in the role and functions of the Committee;
  • Provide advice to the Council.

The focus of the Committee is on ensuring that the planning policy framework applicable in the Council area is current, in alignment with State planning policies, and is delivering high quality development outcomes.

The Committee consists of 6 members, three of whom are independent with one of those Independent Members also filling the role of Presiding Member. Three Elected Members of Council are also members of the Committee. The Committee meets at least twice annually – meetings normally occur at the Local Government Centre (2 Seventh Street, Murray Bridge) at 5.30pm on a Wednesday.

The Committee is an advisory body and does not enjoy any delegations. It makes recommendations to Council on the matters set out above.
