A roadmap for the development of The Rural City of Murray Bridge over the next four years, shaped by community consultation, is now available for review.
The Draft Strategic Plan 2020-24 is out for consultation, after Council undertook extensive community engagement in August and September to create a plan in line with community expectations.
Rural City of Murray Bridge Mayor Brenton Lewis said the document would provide clear direction for Council to ensure it was working in-line with community aspirations, and building a future that would accurately reflect the needs and wants of the community.
“We went out to our community, listened to what was said and drafted a plan for the next four years to reflect the responses,” he said.
“We want to check we got it right so a final plan can be presented to Council for consideration in early 2020.”
Mayor Lewis said the plan focused on building regional capacity to ensure the community prospered as significant development unfolded during the next four years.
“In excess of $1b will be invested in our region and we need to ensure it benefits our community in a positive way, providing jobs for locals and encouraging our youth to see they have a future here,” he said.
“The Murray Bridge – Make It Yours campaign will attract further interest and investment in our region and this plan provides initiatives to support that.”
Initiatives include activating the Sturt Reserve riverfront to provide recreation, tourism and water activity opportunities.
The Plan also includes ongoing beautification of the city and outer township entrances.
