THE TWINKLE of Christmas lights for the delight of young and old will bring our neighbourhoods to life this summer, with the introduction of the Rural City of Murray Bridge Christmas Lights Competition!

Entries close 30 November 2019. Judging will be conducted from 9 until 13 December and the winners will be announced at an award ceremony to be held 3pm 18 December 2019 at the Local Government Centre.Categories include Small, Large, Traditional, Business and Mayor’s Award. $250 in prize money and bragging rights will be awarded to the winner of each category.

Mayor Lewis said the competition would complement existing Christmas celebrations including the annual lighting of the Christmas tree in Diamond Park and the Murraylands Riverfront Festival including the Christmas pageant.
“This initiative has been introduced by Council to support our Thriving Communities and boost community pride,” he said.
“It’s a great way to foster community spirit and bring us all together.
“If you love Christmas and putting up light displays, or have been waiting for an excuse to go all out, this is the perfect opportunity.”

Entries will be open to all properties within the Rural City of Murray Bridge Local Government area and only one entry will be accepted per individual or group for each category.
Entries will be judged on:
- Presentation, general appearance layout and design
- Light – use of colour, form and composition, variety and repetition
- Creativity, innovation and passion.
- Does it reflect the spirit of the Christmas season?
