International Day of People with a DisAbility
Nominations open for International Day of People with Disability Recognition Awards
The achievements of people with disability and those who support them across the Rural City of Murray Bridge will be recognised through Council’s International Day of People with Disability Recognition Awards.
Nominations are now open for the awards, which will recognise the outstanding achievements and contributions of people with disability, along with the disability-friendly and accessible businesses, programs and organisations that are doing great things in our community for people with disability.
There are two award categories:
- Individual - for individuals with disability achieving great things.
- Business/organisation - for businesses, organisations and programs supporting people with disability in our community.
Community members are encouraged to nominate anyone they believe fits the criteria. For more information, download our Information Sheet.
Winners will be announced at an International Day of People with Disability celebration and awards presentation, where they will receive a voucher and a certificate.
The International Day of People with Disability is marked around the world annually on December 3. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and recognition of people living with disability, celebrating their achievements and contributions to society.
Council will mark the day with a community celebration, on Friday 5 December at Sturt Reserve, between 10am – 1.30pm. All are welcome to attend and join in the celebration.
