The riverfront at Murray Bridge is transforming into a showpiece and world class leisure destination, following the completion of Stage 1 of a detailed plan bringing community aspirations for river activation and connection to life. Stage 1 of the Sturt Reserve Redevelopment- the Recreation Precinct is now complete and was officially opened by Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin and Mayor Brenton Lewis this morning.
The Recreation Precinct includes the Murray Bridge Regional Rowing Centre, surrounding landscaping, shared paths, lighting, the pontoon, the Murray Cods Memorial, Trail Head and a new community shelter. Works on the precinct were completed on time and on budget prior to Australia Day. The precinct is the first stage of the Sturt Reserve Redevelopment. It is a part of the $34million Riverfront Redevelopment long term project, which will be rolled out in stages over the coming years.
The project was funded with support of the BBRF (Building Better Regions Fund) Infrastructure Projects Stream. The Next stage of the Sturt Reserve Redevelopment is developing the History & Tourism Precinct.
