Paint the Bridge REaD has arrived in Murray Bridge. The mascot for this program will emerge from a very special egg. The red and white splotchy egg is on the move visiting children of Murray Bridge to encourage literacy through reading, rhyming and singing.
You can catch the egg at:
- Minya Porlar Creche - This week – 27 October – 28 October
- Murray Bridge Preschool Kindergarten – 31 October – 4 November
- Parent Mother Goose – Communities for Children Murraylands – MB Library – 7 November
- Fraser Park Kindy and Learning Together – 15 November – 17 November
- Murray Bridge Christmas Parade – 19 November
- Concodia – 21 November – 22 November
- Tinyeri Children’s Centre Playgroup – 28 November
- Tyndale ELC - Week beginning – The week beginning 5 November
- World of Learning - Week beginning – The week beginning 12 November
Our community is nurturing this special egg by reading, rhyming and singing to it. Once it grows to its full size, a mystery mascot will emerge from the egg at a reading event early next year.
Council was awarded $30,000 through a Local Government Early Childhood Community Innovation Grant to work with a group of local organisations to launch the ‘Paint the Town REaD’ literacy program in the Rural City of Murray Bridge.
The network brings together the Rural City of Murray Bridge, Murray Bridge Library, the Tinyeri Children’s Centre Safer Family Services, Murray Bridge Community Centre and ac.care to encourage literacy in the community.
Paint the Town REaD is a nationwide early literacy community program that encourages the whole community to read, talk, sing and play with children from birth, to help develop the skills they will need for reading and writing.
You can vote for the mascot you would like to see hatch from the egg at Council's Let's Talk page
