The reopening of the Murray Bridge Swimming Centre will see the introduction of a new booking system aimed at helping visitors to safely return to the water.

The 2021-2022 Swim season, beginning Saturday 30 October, has been given the green light however, visits to the Murray Bridge Swimming Centre, including the Splash Park, will require bookings to be made in advance via Council’s website.

Booked sessions will have a time limit and capacity limit of 200 patrons to ensure all community members have an equal opportunity to attend the Swimming Centre, assist contact tracing and allow cleaning between sessions.

Visitors to the recently upgraded and well-loved community facility will also see further enhancements designed to maximise safety and comply with the revised Watch Around Water safety policy recently released by the Royal Life Saving Society Australia.

These include an increase in the lifeguard to visitor ratio, the requirement of children under 13 years of age being accompanied and actively supervised by a person 16 years or older and increased safety messaging around the Centre.

The Murray Bridge Swimming Centre recently received a $2.8 million redevelopment of the existing 50 metre Olympic pool with access ramp, upgraded pipework, filtration and chlorination systems, along with plant room modifications. The Children’s and Toddler’s pool and the change room were also upgraded. The project was supported by a $1 million State Government grant from the Office for Recreation Sport and Racing.
