Possum Magic author and Australia Reads South Australian Ambassador Mem Fox will be guest author at an Australian Reading Hour event from 4.30pm on Thursday 9 March, at the Murray Bridge Library.
Mem has written over 40 books for children and several non-fiction books for adults during her career, including her renowned book for parents: Reading Magic.
Murray Bridge Library Team Leader Tim Law said all story lovers were welcome to attend the free event, however young families and preschool educators were particularly encouraged.
“Mem Fox is a passionate advocate for literacy and she speaks extensively on the subject in the most engaging way, reading her stories aloud to captivated audiences and demonstrating the way literacy can inspire and educate,” he said.
“We feel very honoured she has chosen Murray Bridge as the best place to share her special kind of magic and inspire a love of reading for this year’s Australian Reading Hour.
“Many of her stories for children have a subtle focus on equality, tolerance and respect.”
Australia Reads is a not-for-profit collaboration whose mission is to get more people reading more books more often.
