Significant personal achievements by people with a disability, and initiatives that create a more equitable and accessible community, are the focus of an awards campaign in Murray Bridge.
Nominations are now open until Monday 22 November 2021 for The Rural City of Murray Bridge International Day of People with a Disability Awards culminating in a day of celebration on Friday 3 December, 2021 at Farmer’s Union Reserve in front of the new Regional Rowing Centre from 10am-1.00pm.
A free healthy BBQ lunch will be provided for all ages along with engaging activities in a new location in front of the Rowing Club.
Team Leader Community Development Faith Box said all members of the community were encouraged to join the celebrations – regardless of ability.
“This is an inclusive event and everyone is invited to attend, including people with or without a disability, disability services and all schools,” she said.
“Our goal is to promote a positive image of people with a disability for an inclusive community.”
International Day of People with a Disability Awards winners will be announced on the day. Certificates and prizes will be awarded to an organisation that has implemented an accessibility friendly initiative and to an individual with a disability who deserves recognition for personal achievement.
