Empower Ability: Shaping Inclusive Sport in the Murraylands

The Rural City of Murray Bridge invites residents, families and carers to be part of Empower Ability, a new inclusive sports program designed for people with disability aged five years and above.

Empower Ability aims to create accessible, welcoming and enjoyable opportunities for individuals and families to participate in sport and active recreation. The program focuses on building confidence, supporting wellbeing and strengthening community connections through inclusive participation.

To help shape the program, Council is seeking input from the community to better understand the types of activities people are interested in and what supports may be needed to make participation easier and more enjoyable.

What we want to hear about:

  • Preferred sports and recreational activities
  • New or different sport and recreation experiences the community would like to see
  • Barriers to participation and how they can be addressed
  • Supports that would make programs more inclusive and accessible

Community feedback will play a vital role in ensuring Empower Ability reflects the diverse needs and interests of the Murraylands community.

Empower Ability is supported by the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing (ORSR) through the Sector Success Grant Program, which assists local initiatives that promote participation and inclusion in sport and active recreation.

The Rural City of Murray Bridge looks forward to working with the community to deliver Empower Ability - a program that promotes inclusion, participation and active lifestyles for all.
