On 8 December 2025, Council agreed to a new plan called the Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2025–2029.
- In 2022, about 5.5 million people in Australia were living with disability.
This is 21 out of every 100 people.
- In our region, 4.5 out of every 100 people under 65 have a severe or profound disability.
- To make our communities fair and inclusive, everyone needs to work together - all levels of government, businesses, and the community.
- Local Government is very important in helping create inclusive and accessible communities.
- We are committed to listening to people with disability and making sure we think about disability in all parts of our work.
This plan shows how Council will make our community:
- More accessible
- More inclusive
- Better for people with disability
What Council will do
Council will focus on:
- Training staff, volunteers and Council Members
- Making Council events accessible and inclusive
- Improving Council buildings and spaces
- Providing information in accessible formats
- Making recruitment and interviews more inclusive
