People living with a significant and permanent disability can now enjoy even greater access to local events and venues, with the Rural City of Murray Bridge now officially affiliated with the national Companion Card program.

Council joins Companion Card program to improve access for all

The Companion Card supports people who require the assistance of a companion or carer to participate in community activities. When a cardholder buys a ticket at a participating venue or event, their companion receives a second ticket at no charge. The program removes financial barriers and enables carers to provide essential support at events, attractions and on public transport.

Becoming a Companion Card affiliate reflects Council’s ongoing commitment to equitable access, inclusion and participation for all members of the community.

Cardholders and their companions can now access free entry at any Council-led event held at:

Murray Bridge Swimming Centre
Performing Arts + Function Centre
Murray Bridge Regional Gallery
Murraylands Skills Centre
The Round House
The Station

Council is also encouraging third-party hirers using Council venues to recognise and accept the Companion Card, although this cannot be guaranteed for all externally managed events.

The Companion Card is administered by the South Australian Department of Human Services.
