The Rural City of Murray Bridge is calling on the community to help shape how the $3.45M in proceeds from the sale of Lerwin Residential Care can create lasting benefits for future generations.

The proceeds have been set aside since November 2025 while Council considers how they can best deliver an enduring benefit for the community.

Community engagement opens Wednesday, 14 October, giving residents the opportunity to share their views on who should benefit from the proceeds, the community outcomes the funding should support and whether a community fund could provide ongoing benefits.

The engagement aims to understand the community’s aspirations and priorities before Council determines the most appropriate long-term approach for the funds.

Some uses are outside the scope of the engagement, including rate rebates or reductions, paying down Council debt, and general asset and infrastructure maintenance. These are not being considered because they would provide a short-term benefit, are already supported through other funding, or fall under the responsibility of other levels of government.

Following the consultation period, a detailed report outlining community feedback will be provided to Council to help inform its decision.

Community members are encouraged to participate and share their views through Council’s Let’s Talk engagement platform.

Have your say:
- Visit Council’s Let’s Talk engagement platform to learn more and complete the survey.
- Paper-based surveys are also available at the Local Government Centre, Murray Bridge Library and Murraylands Skills Centre. Community members can also seek assistance to provide feedback from Council’s Customer Service Team.

The survey is open from Wednesday, 14 October to Wednesday, 4 November (5pm).
