In response to concerns raised by locals regarding smoke/odour irritants and potential health impacts on individuals with respiratory difficulties.
In accordance with the Environment Protection (Air Quality) Policy 2016, Council’s Authorised Officers have been issuing Domestic Burning Permits outside the Fire Danger Season for the disposal of garden waste, such as fallen tree branches and garden pruning.
Phasing out domestic burning permits aligns with the Council’s dedication to improving community health by reducing smoke emissions and promoting environmentally friendly practices. Mulching and composting not only benefit individual gardens but also contribute to a healthier ecosystem by enhancing soil quality and moisture retention.
We encourage residents to explore alternative methods of mitigating green waste. These alternatives include:
Using Green Bins: Residents can dispose of their green waste using the provided green bins, which are collected fortnightly.
Composting and Mulching: These methods not only reduce waste but also benefit your garden by enriching the soil and conserving water.
Free Green Waste Days: The Brinkley Waste Transfer Facility offers four free green waste weekends, providing an excellent opportunity to dispose of your green waste responsibly.
For more information on obtaining green bins or accessing the free green waste days at the Brinkley Waste Transfer Facility, please visit the Council’s website.
