2027 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS
Get ready to ‘Shape Your World’ by enrolling to vote or becoming a candidate in the 2027 local government elections.
Residents of the Rural City of Murray Bridge are being encouraged to get involved in shaping the future of Council at the next election.
That can be as easy as making sure you are enrolled to vote before enrolments close on 4 January 2027, and then voting in the postal ballot in March 2027.
Enrolling to vote
Am I already enrolled?
Recent changes to legislation mean that you need to be enrolled on the South Australian electoral roll to be eligible to vote in your local council election.
Not sure if you are already enrolled? Checking your enrolment is simple, just visit ecsa.sa.gov.au/enrolment to find out.
It is important that your enrolment is up to date by 5.00pm Monday 4 January 2027.
What if I live outside of the Rural City of Murray Bridge but own a property within the Council area?
You might be eligible to vote in both Council areas, however, your enrolment for the Rural City of Murray Bridge (or another area) where you pay rates is not automatic. You will need to apply for this voting entitlement using this form - Natural Person
What if I own a business in the Rural City of Murray Bridge?
You might be eligible to enrol to vote in the election. You will need to apply for this voting entitlement using this form - Body Corporate
What if I am part of a Group of Owners or Group of Occupiers within the Rural City of Murray Bridge?
Where a property is owned by more than one owner (ie a group owner) or occupied by more than one occupier/tenant you will need to apply for this voting entitlement using this form - Group Owners or Group Occupiers
What if I have previously enrolled to vote as a property owner who lives outside the Council area, a business owner, or are part of a group ownership or group occupier within the City of Murray Bridge?
If you have previously enrolled to vote in a Local Government Election in either of the capacities above, you are required to enrol again as these three types of enrolments are purged each local government election year, however due to the 2026 election deferral, if you re-enrolled after the 1 January 2026 you do not need to re-enrol again.
What happens after I submit my form to the Council?
Once you submit your form to the Council, by:
- dropping it off to the Local Government Centre, 2 Seventh Street, Murray Bridge during opening hours
or
- emailing a completed copy of the form to council@murraybridge.sa.gov.au
your form will be processed, eligibility criteria checked, status of a State Elector confirmed by ECSA and you will be informed if your application was accepted or rejected.
Don't forget that if you post your form to us, please ensure that you allow enough time for your application to be received by 5.00pm Monday, 4 January 2027 . If your application is received after this deadline, we are unable to process your application and add you to the Voters Roll for the 2027 election.
