What we can do

Share what we know

What we know from the Planet Youth survey is that when protective factors are missing in a young person’s life they are more likely to become involved in risky behavior such as the use of alcohol and other drugs. So by building up those protective factors that are directly influenced by parents and the community we have the ability to support our young people and their families. Just knowing things can be powerful, so we encourage you to talk about Planet Youth and the data.

Connect with parents

Knowing the parents of your child’s friends and having a conversation about how you can work together to strengthen the protective factors around your children can make all the difference. When parents support other parents, everyone can feel more confident and be more effective in reducing risks for young people.

Get involved

Murray Bridge has a Local Drug Action Team (LDAT) that community member can be involved in. If that’s not something you think you could get involved in then just being involved in activities with your children is great! Get involved with Planet Youth, you can do this by liking the Facebook page.
