What is Planet Youth?
Planet Youth is an alcohol and drug prevention model that focuses on things that help to prevent substance use among young people. It is a community approach, with the aim of getting everyone to work together to reduce the ‘risk factors’ that increase the likeness of young people using drugs and alcohol whilst trying to strengthen the ‘protective factors’ that can prevent use.
The Research Approach
At the centre of Planet Youth is regular research that gives us an understanding of the attitudes and behaviours of our young people. A comprehensive lifestyle questionnaire is completed by Year 10 students to give us an insight into many aspects of their lives including substance use, physical health, mental health, physical activity, recreation, other interests and activities, family and school experience, internet use, bullying and number of other areas

Local Drug Action Team
The Local Drug Action Team is a working group of people including, professionals, community members and schools. The Local Drug Action Team (LDAT) Program supports communities to work together to prevent and minimise the harm caused by alcohol and other drugs.
