The Rural City of Murray Bridge

Appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Rural City of Murray Bridge in July 2023, Heather is responsible for strategic planning, stakeholder management and communications, finance and asset management, human resources, governance and major projects. She is also responsible for leading the organisation in the delivery of the Council’s Vision of “Thriving Communities”.

Heather is a Member of Local Government Professionals South Australia, the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia, and the Australian Institute of Traffic Planning and Management. Heather holds an Associate Diploma in Surveying, an Advanced Diploma in Project Management and has considerable background and 30 years + experience in Local Government and in Municipal Engineering.

Heather has established a strong reputation for being a transformational leader within Local Government; she has proven experience in leading change and also in leading a range of portfolios and programs. She acts with passion and integrity, has an authentic style, and focuses on greater good and quality outcomes, delivery and making a difference.

As Chief Executive Officer, Heather is responsible for the enhancement, management and maintenance of community assets and the public realm - she is also responsible for delivery of new enhancement programs towards creating environments for people, lifestyle and connectedness - delivering on council’s aspiration for “Thriving Communities”.

Prior to taking up the role of Chief Executive Officer with The Rural City of Murray Bridge, Heather held the position of General Manager Assets and Infrastructure with our organisation, Senior and General Management positions in a number of Local Governments, including the South Australian Capital City Council, in both inner and outer metropolitan Councils in SA, and in rural and regional Councils in South Australia and Victoria.

Heather’s experience and skills both broad and technical in a wide and varied range of aspects brings sound leadership and experience to the City and organisation.

Heather says she thrives on working with communities to achieve outcomes for real good.
