Predominantly a dairy farming community on the floodplain with a cable ferry carrying vehicles across the river to Tailem Bend.

Named after the governor of South Australia William Jervois the town was surveyed in 1927.

Murals by TARNS ONE can be found on the side of the Bowling Club and the Beston Foods facility. This  evolving arts trail features murals on the disused dairy buildings along the road.

The road between Murray Bridge and Jervois also features decorated bicycles, installations of farm detritus and several unique letterboxes to surprise and delight visitors to the region.
