The Rural City of Murray Bridge endorsed its first Disability Discrimination Act Action Plan in 2000. The Action Plan was prepared following consultation with people with disabilities, community members, disability agencies and Council staff.
The Action Plan identified strategies to reduce and overcome barriers to access in the Rural City of Murray Bridge. As a result, a range of activities were implemented to improve access and participation by all members of the community. The Action Plan enabled Council to take a planned and strategic approach to improving access for all.
The reviewed Accessibility Action Plan will plan for activity over a 3 year period (2008-2011). The implementation of this plan required a whole of Council commitment. Staff from all departments contributed towards achieving the outcomes.
Currently the Accessibility Action Plan 2008-2011 is under review.
