Monarto Masterplan

The Rural City of Murray Bridge conducted public and agency consultation to ensure that a Masterplan was prepared for the Monarto South Region

The Monarto Masterplan was developed by Jensen Planning + Design for the Rural City of Murray Bridge in late 2016-early 2017. The Masterplan was developed in association with the District Council of Mount Barker, the RDA Murraylands and Riverland.

The Masterplan itself is a result of extensive consultation undertaken by Council in Monarto since 2009. Background work undertaken began with the Monarto South Intermodal and Land Use Study (2009) initiated by the Monarto Common Purpose Group. This was followed by the Imagine your Rural City 2020 (2011), followed by the Rural Communities Study (2012), followed by the RCMB Strategic Directions Report (2013), and the Council Community and Strategic Plan (2015) leading to ongoing deliberations with the Monarto South Community and Industry Reference Group. Industry, government and community stakeholders were involved in the preparation of the Masterplan, and extensive engagement was undertaken in tandem with the Development Plan Amendment (DPA).

The Masterplan provides a vision for Monarto, helping the development of an employment hub. This will most likely create additional jobs and improve economic growth in the region.

The Masterplan is able to be viewed here.
