The Rural City of Murray Bridge supports the health and wellbeing of the community by providing a safe, accessible and cost-effective Immunisation Service in order to prevent the spread of diseases.  All vaccines funded under the “National Immunisation Program” are free to medicare card holders. Flu vaccines are available at a fee of $25 per dose during Autumn, Winter and Spring. Our service is unable to give vaccines that are not supplied by our service and we are not able to provide travel or Meningococcal B vaccines.  Please see your GP for these vaccines.

In partnership with the Mount Barker District Council a public drop in clinic between 2.30 – 4pm on the third Thursday of each month at the Murray Bridge Library, Level 2 Murray Bridge Marketplace, 51 South Terrace, Murray Bridge.  If your child is attending Council’s clinic and is under the age of 16 years, they must be accompanied by an adult and their parent/legal guardian must consent to the vaccines(s) in writing using our childhood schedule consent form.  Immunisation will only proceed if we are sure we have valid and informed consent.

No Jab No Pay Policy Expansion – From 1 July 2017 individuals aged 10 years and upt to and including 19 years of age may be eligible (with Medicare card) to receive catch up childhood vaccinations as per the National Immunisation Program free of charge through our service.  Catch up school vaccines may also be free for teens.  If you require catch up vaccines please bring all childhood vaccine records (Blue book) and records of any vaccines given by other providers to the clinic. Due to time restraints at clinic we may be unable to work out a catch up program on the spot but every effort will be made to do so, alternatively we will take a copy of your records and  give advice on the next available time to have the vaccines.  Catch up vaccines are also available  through your local GP.

School Immunisation Program – Council offers onsite vaccinations to students in Year 8 for HPV (Gardasil) and dTpa (Boostrix) at schools in the Murray Bridge Council areas.  Information packs will be sent home from school to all parents in week 1 of first term.  Please contact your child’s school for extra consent forms or the dates of the scheduled visits.  These vaccines are also available at our public clinics if preferred, or if  your child is absent from school on the day immunisations are given.

Seasonal Influenza – Free vaccination for influenza is available from Autumn annually for people at risk due to a medical condition (from 6 mths of age), pregnancy, Aboriginal children from 6mths – 5 years of age, Aboriginal people from 15 years of age and for all aged 65 years and over.  If you are not eligible for the funded vaccine, the Influenza vaccine is available at a cost of $25 per dose (cash only please). Influenza vaccines are recommended for everyone over 6mths of age the vaccine is an inactivated vaccine that cannot cause influenza.

Whooping Cough Vaccinations – A funded vaccination for Whooping Cough (which includes Diphtheria and Tetanus) is now available for women during the 3rd trimester (from 28 weeks) of each pregnancy to provide protection for young babies who are most at risk of whooping cough. These are available at all of our public clinics.  Vaccination against Whooping Cough is strongly recommended for anyone in regular contact with infants and can be purchased at our clinics at a cost of $40 per dose.
