Position Overview
An exciting opportunity has just become available in the Information Technology (IT) and Records Team. We are looking for a Senior Information Technology officer who will be pivotal in helping us to implement and maintain the infrastructure and operations that support the organisations operations.
The IT and Records Team play a key role in supporting many of the Councils services and the Senior Information Technology officer is one of the Technical Specialist within the team that assists with the Digital Architecture and Infrastructure needed to deliver many of our services to the Community. Working in a small team your communication skills and ability to provide technical advice and expertise will be an important contribution to the overall success of the team.
We are about to implement our first cloud based application system and the Senior Information Technology Officer will be integral in assisting with the organisations transition to this environment ensuring that the various business units meet their business objectives.
Our local WAN is extensive and services a number of the Rural City of Murray Bridge sites and your ability to provide technical advice and expertise will be advantageous in maintaining and developing this network further to meet the future challenges the digital world presents.
The role will suit someone who can think on their feet and work as part of a team, collaborating effortlessly with colleagues in search of innovative solutions for the organisation.
Qualifications & Experience
A relevant Tertiary qualification or considerable industry experience or certifications in network administration, VMware, Windows Servers, Cisco, Azure, Office 365 etc.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Team Leader IT and Records, responsibilities will include:
- System Maintenance & Administration: Oversee core systems such as Active Directory, Entra AD, Office 365, VMware, Windows and Linux Servers, performing patching, updates, and group policy management.
- Network & Security Operations: Collaborate with security consultant to ensure uptime of networks and external services, manage system security, and monitor performance and capacity.
- Backup & Recovery: Manage backups with Veeam and resolve capacity issues promptly.
- Technical Escalation & Support: Act as an escalation point for helpdesk and a mentor to staff.
- Application Deployment & Infrastructure: Deploy applications via SCCM and manage remote access services, SQL support and public cloud services such as Azure and AWS.
- Incident & Change Management: Address system incidents and follow ITIL-based change management processes.
- Project Participation & Technology Evaluation: Contribute to IT projects and recommend system improvements.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain system documentation and submit reports as directed.

The position is offered as a full time role in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Council’s current Enterprise Agreement within an annual salary range of $96,023 to $107,964, dependent upon skills, knowledge and experience.
