About the role
An exciting opportunity exists to step into this critical leadership role, driving strategic and operational success in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment. The General Manager - Corporate and Innovation will be joining the results driven Executive Leadership Team delivering customer-focused, accountable, and responsive services to the community while fostering a high-performance culture across the organisation.
What you will do…
- Lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service while ensuring compliance with legislation and governance frameworks.
- Lead strategic planning and service delivery across corporate functions, including finance, HR, customer service, information services, communications, and aged care, ensuring operational excellence.
- Monitor performance and drive continuous improvement, setting objectives, evaluating outcomes, and ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Oversee financial management and governance, ensuring compliance with legislation, effective budgeting, accurate reporting, and alignment with the suite of strategic plans
- Provide expert advice and foster strategic partnerships, engaging with the CEO, Council Members, government agencies, and industry stakeholders to drive innovation and enhance service delivery.
What they are looking for
- Proven experience in leading, developing, and managing portfolios to achieve strategic outcomes and drive high performance, ideally in local government.
- A tertiary qualification at degree level in a relevant field.
- Expert Knowledge - a strong understanding of governance, legislation, risk, financial and records management, procurement, ICT, and contract administration.
- Strategic and conceptual thinker, with the ability to develop and implement portfolio plans, policies, and strategies.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing, legislative interpretation, stakeholder consultation, and presenting complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills - with the ability to build consensus and implement effective solutions.
- Highly developed organisational skills - effective project planning, time management, and prioritisation.
- Sound judgment, high emotional intelligence, and maturity to navigate complex challenges.
