The Rural City of Murray Bridge is seeking expressions of interest from persons who wish to be considered for the three vacant community member positions on the Riverbank Stabilisation Working Group.
This Working Group is established to;
- To work collaboratively with Council Administration in relation to riverbank erosion matters within the Rural City of Murray Bridge (including outer towns’ areas).
- Provide an opportunity for appointed community members to participate in open discussions regarding potential design matters prior to any public consultation (if required) and Council for endorsement.
- Council Administration will seek external professional advice where required in relation to remediation measures and/or design advice.
- Council Administration will ensure all necessary State Government Agencies (i.e. – Department of Environment and Water [DEW]/ Environment Protection Authority [EPA]) & First Nations Groups are consulted in accordance with all relevant Acts.
- The Working Group attempts to fulfil these objectives where required in the following areas:
- All Murray Bridge Reserves
- Mypolonga
- Wellington
- Monteith
- Riverglen/Hahn Rd reserves (between Murray Bridge & Jervois)
- Pending budget allocations, the Working Group may provide feedback on the prioritisation of the above-mentioned sites if required.
The Working Group consists of 6 members, including the Mayor, two Council members (chosen at the discretion of the Mayor) and no more than three (3) community members.
The Working Group shall meet at least quarterly on a date to be confirmed. The Working Group shall meet at the Offices of the Rural City of Murray Bridge Local Government Centre, 2 Seventh Street, Murray Bridge or on site should matters necessitate it.
Community membership of the Working Group shall be in a voluntary capacity. Interested persons should ideally demonstrate an interest in the land (i.e. – neighbouring property owner) and/or relevant background and knowledge in engineering / bank stabilisation methodologies.
