Lerwin Nursing Home

About Lerwin

Lerwin Nursing Home is a 75 bed, high level, residential care facility owned by the Rural City of Murray Bridge. Lerwin was expanded and refurbished with the project completed in October 2005.

Lerwin is fully accredited under the requirements of the Commonwealth Government for aged care homes. 

What services does Lerwin provide?

Lerwin provides the appropriate care to meet the needs of those residents who have been assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team as requiring high care.

Services provided for residents at Lerwin include:

  • staff to provide help at all times
  • assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, showering, dressing and mobility
  • meals and refreshments, taking into account special dietary needs
  • laundry services
  • continence aids,
  • basic medical supplies
  • nursing services and therapy services

Other Services offered include:

  • hairdressing
  • daily activities which include craftwork, gardening, cooking, games and regular outings or entertainment.
  • An ecumenical church service is held each week.

Lerwin's Aim

Lerwin Nursing Home provides twenty-four hour personal and nursing care with accommodation to people of our community who need such a service. Our aim is to provide facilities and services which:

  • Will promote dignity, purpose and real meaning in their lives
  • Encourage companionship and friendly relationships
  • Promote an awareness of the value of aged people
  • Is integrated with the local community

Facilities

Lerwin has single and two bed rooms. Rooms are designed to be as pleasant as possible and residents are encouraged to bring in personal belongings to help create a homely atmosphere.

In addition to the bedrooms, the following communal facilities are available to residents:

  • Lounge Rooms
  • Dining Rooms
  • Private dining room for entertaining family or friends
  • Courtyards and Gardens
  • Some rooms have ensuite facilities

When to enter

A person usually enters a nursing home when they can no longer live at home, or be cared for in their own home, perhaps following a severe illness or long term difficulty that has caused a change in their lifestyle. Admission is based on need following a personal assessment by the Aged Care Assessment team and doctor.

Fees are charged in accordance with the Schedule of Fees and Charges determined by the Department of Health and Ageing.

The fees charged cover all meals, accommodation, laundry, personal and nursing care as required. Some items of a personal nature and some extended services such as hairdressing are billed separately.
