A major expansion and refurbishment project at the Rural City of Murray Bridge’s Lerwin Aged Care Facility has been approved by Council, benefiting current and future Lerwin residents.

Council at its meeting of 9 December 2019 voted unanimously to proceed with the expansion and refurbishment project and appointed Schiavello Construction to undertake the work.

The expansion of the Lerwin Aged Care Facility will add a new wing with 20 single rooms and a new courtyard. The refurbishment will convert 15 twin rooms to single rooms with upgraded ensuite bathrooms, along with the refurbishment of the existing courtyard, lounge room and cafe. Overall the project will increase the number of rooms from 75 to 80.

This exciting investment will improve access to residential aged care in Murray Bridge and ensure that modern, resident-centred support is there for local older people now and into the future.

We are proud to be building capacity and creating comfortable environments that our most vulnerable can call home. The provision of the extension will provide an area with improved secure space for residents with dementia, along with a spacious contemporary courtyard for residents and families to enjoy.

The project commenced in January 2020 and is expected to be completed in twelve months.   Monthly fact sheets outlining the progress of the project can be accessed below:
