International Day of People with a Disability

Significant personal achievements by people with a disability, and initiatives that create a more equitable and accessible community, are the focus of an awards campaign in Murray Bridge.

Nominations are now open for The Rural City of Murray Bridge International Day of People with a Disability Awards!

Team Leader Community Development Faith Box said the awards provided an opportunity for Council to shine a spotlight on organisations and individuals helping to create thriving communities.
“We are looking for local heroes who make a positive difference in our local community advocating for people with disabilities, promoting inclusivity and growing emerging communities,” she said.
“Council would like to recognise these individuals, programs and businesses within The Rural City of Murray Bridge through the accessibility recognition awards which are held every second year.”

Winners will be announced, with certificates and prizes awarded, at the International Day of People with a Disability celebration on Friday 29 November at Sturt Reserve, Murray Bridge.

Nominations are sought for a local business, organisation, sporting club or community organisation for efforts in implementing accessibility friendly projects, programs or infrastructure.
Nominations are also sought for an individual with a disability who deserves recognition for personal achievement.
